#110 Takuma AOKI / Ittipon SIMARAKS / Katsuhiko SHIINE (Japan & Thailand Isuzu Mu-X)

Welcome to a world heritage Angkor Wat
Total 2,000 km of finale.

City of mystery that boasted glory as world eminent metropolis "Angkor Wat". Stone temple to show a strikingly beautiful appearance among the "Angkor Wat" and the fort city "Angkor Tom". This "jungle of jewel" is the goal of the rally.

On this day, the competitors who ran through the final SS of 51km will finish the competition at the finish line in the eastside of ruins. All cars went into the ruins with convoy from there. With the cooperation of the Cambodian government, the road in front of the Angkor Wat, where the goal ceremony will be performed is blocked.

Crossing the river of Siem Reap, which is said to have kept supporting the city of Angkor and passing through the "Gate of victory," arranged in the northeast of the castle is already in Angkor Tom. By looking at the ruins closely, it is a masterpiece. It was the best gift that has been given to entrants to the end of the journey of up to a total of 2,000km.

Tracing back to 4 hours ago, competitors were located in the midst of tremendous terrain. Early stage in the SS, there was a myriad of puddles on the course that has been set in the footpath of the countryside. It was not just a puddle. The deepest one was about 50cm depth of water. Also it became muddy and mushy rut with mixed mud when multiple cars were passing through there. There was also a pool of water that follows about 20-30 meters and AUTO got stuck and MOTO fell by loosing balance one after another.

The one who pulled up the engine-stalled machine while pushing. The one who continued to kick the kick starter again and again since the self starter did not work for the engine. While MOTO cleared safely, those who made a little mistake had a big time loss. There were competitors who were no longer able to reach the goal of their own.

Followed by AUTO, although the top group went clear without any problems, eventful has happened in the second group. Even if AUTO got stuck, the team before and after was helping each other to clear but the fifth starter, 112 Takatsugu Aoki / Roslyn SHEN(Japan/Taiwan Isuzu D-MAX) went down to the Daily 13th because the length of the stack time was too long and dropped the ranking by one.

AUTO 5th 116 Tomonori NOTO / Daijiro AKAHOSHI (Japan Hilux Revo)

Here is the machine of TEAM JAOS, 116 Tomonori NOTO / Daijiro AKAHOSHI of Hilux Revo, emerged in the overall fifth place. They were getting better gradually in the battle of the second group. On this day, they became the Daily 2nd place and they won the fifth place in the end.

AUTO 1st 101 Nuttapon ANGRITTHANON / Peerapong SOMBUTWONG (Thailand, Isuzu D-MAX)

And after all, the flourished overall winner of the AUTO was 101 of Nuttapon ANGRITTHANON / Peerapong SOMBUTWONG (Isuzu D-MAX). In Asia Cross Country Rally of the past few years, they had been winning every year. It has been showed off their unrivaled strength and they have never yielded their top position and became overall top place this year again.

Speaking in the Grand Sumo Tournament, it's like Yokozuna has graced the continuous victory every season. A rival Yokozuna was absent here for a while but the team that threatens their position that seemed to be rock-solid has emerged this year. It was 111 Tadamitsu NIIHORI / Chupong CHAIWAN (Toyota Hilux Revo) who went up from the 10th start at the first day and then up to an overall second place.

AUTO 2nd 111 Tadamitsu NIIHORI / Chupong CHAIWAN (Toyota Hilux Revo)

It seemed to be easy that Toyota works team stole the second place with the adequacy of backup system of maintenance, but it was a little different.

In fact, "Toyota Cross-Country Team Thailand" team that appeared hailed the name of Toyota, which is a mother of the "TRD Asia". And it is a new company established in Thailand in 2007 by Toyota Racing Development Co. in order to aim a full-scale overseas expansion of the company's sports customized brand "TRD". TRD did not have any experiences in gcross country rallyh so far and it was the first time in the fullness of the challenge.

How about the machine remodeling? The appearance looks sporty because of the black grille and fender flare but mainly remodeling is only the damper and the prototype wheel. Spring and engine is basically normal, and there is almost no reinforcement for the frame or light weighting of the body.

In fact, the machine of TEAM JAOS who uses the same Hilux Revo only has the spring developed in-house and KYB made damper and others are nearly normal. Rather, top team, D-MAX had better engine tuning, weight reduction and reinforcement.

In fact, the acceleration is obviously faster in D-MAX team, on the other hand, Hilux Revo team could not handle enough for over 2 tons vehicle weight. Under such circumstances, they wrested the result in the second place in spite of the first appearance. This is because the good team management, the basic good performance of the Hilux Revo, and the good workmanship of driver and navigator demonstrated all the necessary elements to rally as a result.

In any case, the prominent D-MAX has been come close by Hilux Revo, which was before the full-scale remodeling. For the next year, the D-MAX cannot be relaxed. It appeared to begin the sign of "Pickup Warring States Period" again.

Among the FEDERAL-VESSEL Asia Cross Country 2016 with a history of 21 years, Joint of the MOTO is the fifth time this year. Although history is still shallow, increase in amount of contestants and heat in SNS has come to the momentum to surpass the AUTO securely. And also there are many repeaters. In addition, female rider was also competing this year. Also it is understandable if you look at many of them shed tears of joy at the finish point and were expressing their joy with the entire body.
