AUG 14th LEG 5
The total run of 423.0km LEG 5 SS is 206.18km Cambodia's climatic stage for the FEDERAL-FLEX ASIA CROSS COUNTRY RALLY.
7:15 a.m., in the morning, everyone gather to go headed toward the start point of the SS5. SS5 is going to be very rough and tough for the riders as well as the drivers, because the SS 5 does not contain PC service point. That means there is no place to maintenance the car or the bikes, not mention there is no place to refuel their cars and bikes. 4WD may have enough space in the fuel tanks but as for the bikes might have a problem to conserve there fuel to make it last.
The road condition of the LEG 5 SS 5 is very rough, the road is very dry, not flat, many holes, dip ups and downs like the winter sport Mogul game. There many cars are going slide and going off course stuck into the ditches. But this is the Rally events if other cars helps to get the other cars to safety wasting their precious time. But that's rally is all about helping each other like the words "there is no I in TEAM". We have seem many cases and situation like drivers are helping one another.
Another fundamental about this ASIA CROSS COUTNRY RALLY is that every spectator's cheers. Almost every where there is many people's cheering the cars and bikes that competing in the rally. One of the driver is saying that those cheer is giving the driver power to overcome any obstacle that rally gives to all the competitors.
This part of the SS5 is going through the villages with very high speed and is very tough on the rally cars and bikes, due to the weather (no rain in this year events), the road condition is very dry and no jungles and river going over flow. So the speed is the factor of this rally speed is picking up over the average speed.
#107 Yoshio IKEMACHI had many problem and accidents over this SS5, the rear break support bar broke off and he has to take off the caliper and run 150km without his breaks. Also after finishing SS5 his engine suddenly die down and has to pull the bike by some other supporter (30km) to restart his engine. Once he had in mind of retiring from SS5, but he tried hard to regain and get back to the challenge and he made it into Phonm Penh.
Contrastive competitor with Mr. Ikemachi is car No. #110 Keisuke MAEDA he said "today's challenge was high speed and try to pick up the lost time and no trouble getting lost and no trouble to the machine, and challenge was very smooth and great. Might have chance to win the overall title"
#102 Tadao EZURE had some accident as well "my navigation system went down and went fixing, but the rally course was not much of difficult of a challenge, riders are very much having fun riding and helping each others. Since the bike division had been stored in three years ago, but among the riders are already starting talking about next year's events. The word is begging to spread widely.
The result, the first place goes to #118 Koun Phandara time was 2hours and 17min 46sec, The second place went to Mr. Touch Thach time was 1 min and 11sec behind 2hours and 18min 57sec. The third place went to #110 Keisuke MAEDA time was 2min and 39sec behind from first place 2hours and 19min 14sec.
The overall result is #110 Keisuke MAEDA total time was 6hours and 22min 01sec. The second place total overall is #118 Koun Phandara time was 8min and 50sec behind from first place. The third place overall is #102 Tadao EZURE time was 10min and 28sec behind from first 6hours and 32min 29sec.
The result for the 4WD, the first place went to #6 Chamnan ON-SRI / Chonlanat PHOPIPATEChakkaphop thepyuhin Team time was 2hours and 15min 35sec. The second place went to #11 Nattapon ANGRITTHANON / Peerapong SOMBUTWONG Team time was 2hours and 17min 24sec. The third place went to #3 Vorapot BUNCHUAYLUEA / Chupong CHAIWAN Team time was 2hours and 19min 12sec. The Japanese top winner is #17 Masahiro KONISHI / Masahiro OFUJI Team placed in 4th place.
The overall result, the first place went to #11 Nattapon ANGRITTHANON / Peerapong SOMBUTWONG Team time was 9hours and 21min 07sec. The second place went to Wichawat CHOTIRAVEE / Athikij SRIMONGKHOL Team 10hours and 06min 26sec. The Third place went to Vorapot BUNCHUAYLUEA / Chupong CHAIWAN Team time was 10hours and 12min 28sec. The Japanese top finisher was #4 Takuma AOKI / lttipon asimaraks / Katsuhiko SHIINE Team time was 10hours and 20min 17 sec.

Since The ASIA CROSS COUNTRY RALLY 2014 started on 9th of AUG and LEG 6 SS6 will be the last stage left for tomorrow. The result total first place for the bike division is #110 Keisuke MAEDA, and for the 4WD division giving the attention goes to the team #4 Takuma AOKI / lttipon asimaraks / Katsuhiko SHIINE placing in the 4th place, expecting to do good tomorrow. How exciting!!!!!!!
